Employee safety is an ongoing area of concern in most facilities, and reducing burn injuries is key among the goals for any safety program.

Burn injuries can happen both on processing equipment such as steam pipes, hot tanks, and equipment, as well as on exterior railings in the summer, when the sun can heat surfaces up to 150-160F. By coating these surfaces with Nansulate® PT or High Heat, you can easily reduce surfaces to OSHA 'safe touch' of 140F or lower to reduce chance of burn injuries and meet your safety goals and key performance indicators (KPIs).

Key areas where our thermal barrier coatings can help:

Hot Surfaces above 256F- Nansulate® High Heat offers a solution for reducing surface temperatures and can be used on equipment up to 400F. A thickness of 10-coats (which is a dry film thickness of about 20 mils) can reduce a hot 365F surface down to a safe touch of approximately 136F.

Hot Surfaces up to 256F - Nansulate® Translucent PT offers a solution for lower heat surfaces, up to 256F, and can be used to reduce the chance of burn injury. A thickness of 6-coats (which is a dry film thickness of about 12 mils) can reduce hot outdoor handrails or playground equipment from 158F down to a very comfortable 117F.

How Do I Apply?
The coatings are easy to apply with a brush, roller, or paint sprayer, so they can be applied by your own in-house maintenance team. You can do the application in a day or two or over several days or weeks, doing a few coats at a time, to fit any maintenance schedule.

Use the Chart to Calculate the Number of Coats to Reach a Desired Temperature:

Our Temperature Gradient Chart - Download in Fahrenheit or Celsius - will help you target the number of coats to use for your desired 'safe touch' reduction.

It's no surprise why Galp Energia recently ordered over 2,900 gallons of Nansulate® Translucent PT to insulate and protect the fuel oil storage tanks at their Porto Refinery. The coating provides an innovative and easy to use solution for long-term insulation of tanks in a clear coating that also prevents corrosion and is highly resistant to weathering.

Another recent Nansulate® application on concrete digester tanks was done by the City of San Jose, California, to insulate and reduce heat loss for waste water digesters and recapture more energy for reuse in their facility.

Nansulate® Translucent PT (metal surfaces) and Nansulate® Translucent GP (non-metal surfaces) take the maintenance issues out of insulating exterior tanks. The coatings are clear with a matte finish that can be painted over, and are easy to apply with brush, roller or paint sprayer. Once the coatings are applied and dried (for 72 hours) they stand up extremely well to weathering and are highly moisture and UV resistant.

Don't leave your hot water tanks, fuel storage tanks, or food silos uninsulated because you never had a good solution. There is one now, thanks to the science of nanotechnology, that is also affordable to any size organization.

A typical 6-coat coverage of Nansulate® PT or GP is only $1.07 per S.F. and will last between 5-10 years in exterior environments.

1180382_brick_ranch_house.jpgThis year more than ever, tax payers are anxiously awaiting their tax refund. But instead of spending it on a luxury items as they may have done in the past, most people are planning to either save it for a rainy day or spend it on a necessity for their family. In an economic world that has been completely turned upside down, a tax refund offers a rare chance to get a little ahead.

One way that homeowners can maximize their tax refund is to invest part of it in affordable home energy efficiency upgrades. By using those precious extra dollars to reduce energy used on a daily basis, they can continue to save on energy costs year after year.

There are several affordable ways to make your home more energy efficient, and many of them you can do yourself:

Paint on Insulation - Purchase insulating paint and increase the thermal resistance of your walls, ceiling and water heater. One insulation coating called Nansulate HomeProtect (http://www.nansulate.com/homeprotect.htm) offers resistance to mold growth, is painted on with brush, roller or sprayer, and costs only 50 cents per S.F. Customers report energy savings between 20%-40%, which can add up fast to extra money in your pocket.

Upgrade an Old Appliance - Do you have an old washer, dryer or refrigerator that is eating up energy whenever it runs? Now may be the time to upgrade to a new energy efficient model - and get a nice government rebate. A new government initiative offers rebates to consumers who purchase energy efficient appliances. Visit http://www.energysavers.gov/financial/70022.html and click on your state to see how you can take advantage of this program.

Increase Window Energy Efficiency - Invest in a few simple fixes and reduce the heat loss/gain through windows by making them more energy efficient. Caulk around windows to reduce air leakage; Use window treatments or coverings to control heat transfer through windows; Improve insulation and reduce leaks by installing storm windows. Low cost fixes that can lower your heating and cooling costs.

Make the Switch to CFL - You hear about them all the time, so why wait any longer? Invest part of that tax refund in Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs (CFL). Each bulb can save you about $30 over its lifetime and pay for itself in about 6 months. Switch over all the light bulbs in your home to CFL and reduce lighting energy costs by 75 percent over incandescent bulbs.

With a few smart investments to increase home energy efficiency, you can maximize your tax refund and keep it working for you and your family for years to come.

NAPLES, Fla., March 7, 2011 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Industrial Nanotech, Inc. (Pink Sheets:INTK), an emerging global leader in nanotechnology based energy saving solutions, today announced that the Company has entered the heat process equipment OEM market with a project to provide Nansulate® to an industrial boiler manufacturer for application on all new equipment manufactured by the customer. Nansulate® is the Company's patented product line of award winning, energy saving protective coatings which are well-documented to provide the combined performance qualities of thermal insulation, corrosion prevention, resistance to mold growth, fire resistance, chemical resistance and lead encapsulation in an environmentally safe, water-based, coating formulation. Revenues from this OEM deal are estimated to be approximately five million dollars annually.

"We have been very successful for many years at reducing the energy consumption of heat process equipment for our previous customers who insulated their existing in-service boilers with our coatings, resulting in Nansulate® generally paying it for itself in 12 - 18 months," states Francesca Crolley, VP of Business Development for Industrial Nanotech, Inc. "With these proven energy cost savings, plus the protective benefits that our coatings offer and their long-term durability, it was a natural progression for manufacturers of this type of equipment to begin to install it at the factory to make their products more energy efficient. This project is an important first step into the OEM market for energy efficiency of heat process equipment, including boilers, heat exchangers, steam traps, valves, distribution and return lines, and pressure reduction stations and is a valued addition to our other current OEM projects which include building materials and consumer goods.

Ms. Crolley continues, "Nansulate® provides solutions for insulating steam process systems and reducing related carbon emissions that is significant and long lasting. One of our textile clients reduced their liquid natural gas (LNG) consumption in 2007 & 2008 by  2,211,599 Standard Cubic Meters (Sm3), which was a cost savings directly attributed to Nansulate® insulation coatings of $852,437 USD. Their investment in the purchase of Nansulate®  was $200,000 and installation cost was $100,000, therefore their payback period was only seven months. This represented a 20% reduction in energy use. Another manufacturing client who used the coatings on their steam process system components reduced their steam injection cycles by more than 50%, while improving product quality due to a more consistent process temperature. Yet another client who insulated their boilers, dye machines, and heat exchangers with Nansulate® High Heat recorded their reduction in LNG consumption and reported over a 20% decrease in energy consumption and an anticipated average savings per month of $40,000 US in energy costs."

1000069_love_earth_2.jpgHappy 2011! We all know what the turning of a new year brings........New Year Resolutions! Whether you are young or old, male or female if you've decided to make some changes this year and make the earth a greener place to call home then we invite you to become a Nansulate® NanoPioneer! These nanotechnology-based paintable insulation coatings provide affordable energy solutions and ways to help your wallet while saving the planet.

Energy costs are on the rise again, which can be easily seen at the gas pump, with prices edging up close to the $3.00 per gallon mark, and reducing the impact of those costs is on everyone's minds, from homeowners to CEO's. There are many options to reduce daily costs: Some people are purchasing an electric vehicle like the Nissan Leaf to cut back on emissions and save money, while others are incorporating small changes into their daily lives that can make a difference over time, such as unplugging appliances when not in use and reducing their thermostat temperature. Honestly though, when it comes to your home or business one of the best way to save significantly that provides you a fast payback and continuing energy savings is to insulate and insulate some more with Nansulate® coatings.

This water-based, environmentally friendly insulating paint can make a big difference in your budget year round. Nansulate® HomeProtect Clear Coat for example, will improve the thermal resistance of your building envelope by reducing thermal flow through walls, ceilings or roof. Not only will it reduce heating and cooling costs (as reported by customers, by 20%-40%), it will also provide resistance to mold, and is highly moisture resistant, meaning it will retain its insulating power over time.

Read and download our Sustainable Brochure to learn more about energy efficiency in any building!

Another little tip would be to use our Nansulate® Translucent PT and apply it to metal surfaces and your hot water pipes, especially the pipes close to your heater as that is where there is the most energy loss. In addition to insulating it will also prevent corrosion. Just because it's out of sight, don't let your insulating opportunities be out of mind as well!

Feel free to learn about Industrial Nanotech's Environmental Data and how to reduce your Carbon Footprint.

Also check out our Residential Case Studies where you'll find one customer that says "We are really pleased with the 40% savings in energy cost and the swiftness at which it (the house) cools off and heats up. I even coated the claw foot tub in it so the water stays hotter longer!".

By Insulating with Nansulate® as your New Year's Resolution, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain!
